I am knitting stripey or plain iPod/smartphone/PDA socks to keep my hands busy. Anyone want one? Won't cost you anything (except maybe postage if you want it sent internationally), and will give me something to do.

Colours are limited - I have black, red, blue, purple, dayglo varigated, green and probably one or two other colours if I go hunting, ask if you have a specific request, and I'll go looking. I will pick colours at random if you don't specify. Let me know what the dimensions of your gadget is as well, so I can ensure a snug fit :)

First come, first served!

Got a reply from the dudes who I bought the RAM from.

Hello,

We are sorry that you are having trouble with your order as this memory is indeed compatible with your computer. Please try flashing your BIOS (clearing CMOS) to resolve the issue.

Thank You

ZOMG I IS IN SWEDEN LOLZ.

Yeah, anyway. Flight was ok. Weather is beautiful here. Keep forgetting to take my camera out with me. Per's apartment is made of total win, and I feel at home and happy here already. I have missed him like crazy :)

Have 10 days of fun things, lazy things and other things planned and also not-so-planned. Want to learn Swedish even more now. I'm missing being able to listen in to random conversations in the street!

Been on the go since 7am, so expecting to crash pretty soon. Brain hurts trying to figure out how to work Swedish keyboards. Is happy tired. Laterz! :)

Need to draw attention to this again. Was going to link it, but some of the information has changed, so please read it again :)

My lovely darling boyfriend has decided I'm going to visit him over Easter, which is awesome and groovy and full of yay, and my mummy would also like to see me for a few days, since she'll be looking after Jude while I'm visiting aforementioned fella.

Which leaves my poor Fattybeast at home all on his own for two weeks, which, well. Even if he didn't starve to death, he'd have made a lovely mess of Reagan's sofa by the time I get back.

So, what I'm asking is - is there anyone able to drop in every other day between the 4th and the 17th of April, feed the smelly begger, let him out/in and maybe chuck a stuffed mouse at him if there's time - in exchange for my eternal love, affection and some nice choccies/booze from Sweden? If you can only do some of the days, that would still be helpful, or if you could take Fatty to your house and look after him there, or even come and stay at my house (I have freeview and broadband)! I'm getting desperate now, or otherwise I wouldn't ask :/

Praise the Lard! Problem solved. Thanks to all who replied :)

(PS. I know this is a lot to ask, but this will be my first proper holiday in 12 years, and I can't afford a professional cat-sitter because I'm dolescum.)

Alright, enough is enough. I have searched the house top-to-bottom. Every nook and cranny has been poked, and there's still no sign of the Sky remote. I refuse to spend £15 on a new one. Does anyone have one lying around that they aren't using anymore that I could steal? I did buy one of those all-in-one remotes, but the instructions are in Engrish, and I can't make the bloody thing work :/

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you!

I don't know what's wrong with it. It's so slow, I can barely open a firefox window without crashing it, let alone do anything interesting. I've tried doing a virus scan, it either crashes before it can finish, or it scans for three hours and finds nothing. I've tried turning off all non-essential system processes (well, james did that, I watched), that didn't work. Tried disabling system restore. Cannot figure out what's wrong. If I reboot it, it behaves pefectly normally for a few minutes, then goes boom again.

Anyone got any ideas? This is really starting to piss me off.

Jude and I found what would appear to be a Rhinoceros Beetle while walking home from school (The image in that link is the spitting image of the one we found). Now, I'm pretty sure beetles of the scarab family aren't generally native to the British Isles, so we popped him in Jude's pencil case and bought him home to save him freezing to death or getting run over by a car (which he very nearly did before we got him). He's now in an empty fish tank with a jamjar lid of water, some leaves and half a banana.

Apparently, these things can be kept as pets, but I wouldn't have the faintest clue how to do that, so I think if he survives the night, I might see if I can find a local bug expert and maybe give him to a zoo or something.

What a fucking wierd thing to happen though.

I know I've asked this before, with somewhat limited success, but I was wondering if anyone has any old dreadlocks that they aren't using at the moment that I could either purchase for a small price or borrow for a short period? I really don't mind what colour, I'll make something up, I just really feel like doing something nice with my hair before I get it all lopped off in a few weeks time. I don't care if they're in poor condition, I can fix them up a bit.

Failing that, anyone know anyone else who might be able to help? Would be nice if I could get hold of something by this coming Friday, as it's both Mark's birthday and Planet Angel, and my sort of birthday do, so I'd quite like to do something interesting.

Thanks in advance!

So, I'm due an upgrade on my phone in a couple of weeks, and since my Nokia is on its last legs, I figured I'd take advantage of a new free phone from those lovely chaps at Vodafone. I've narrowed my search down to the following:

Vodafone 810 (can't find any reviews on this, and I very much like the look of it)
SE W910i (mixed reviews, but I do like SE phones)

Anyone know anything about either model? Or perhaps another one I've overlooked?

Edit: Went ahead and ordered the 810. It seems to do everything I need, it's pretty, and it's not like I even use my phone so much these days that I couldn't put up with something that wasn't at my usual standard of geek lust. Worst comes to worst, I sell it, and pick something else up later.

In case anyone has not yet caught wind of this, Planet Angel's NYE party has unfortunately been cancelled.

Directly c&p'd from Angel's mail to the PA facebook group:

PRESS RELEASE 21st December 2007

PLANET ANGEL NYE PARTY: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

There is no easy way of saying this... It is with great regret that we have to announce that our New Year's Eve Party is cancelled.

We received a call on Tuesday afternoon (18th Dec.) explaining that Area - the venue we hired especially for NYE - has just come under new ownership, and the new owner will not honour the agreement we have. This information has been communicated through a third party and despite many attempts to speak directly to the new owner, it appears he will not contact us and will not allow us to have his contact details. As you might expect we've taken professional advice and have been making every effort to resolve the situation but, to no avail. We are examining our legal options but due to the Christmas close down and the litigation process, a remedy would not be available in the timescales we have left and we have no option but to cancel.

We know a lot of people were really looking forward to this event including us, it's a very sad situation. We've invested considerably in the preparations and everything is in place for this event, which also means it has very serious implications for Planet Angel as an organisation.

We have taken the decision to cancel the event quickly in order to provide our guests with the opportunity of making alternative arrangements and to ensure that we can notify as many people as possible to avoid disappointment on NYE itself.

We will of course be refunding everyone's tickets, however as our ticket T&Cs state there is a £1.50 per ticket booking charge to cover the costs of PayPal's fees which unfortunately is non-refundable. We'll post up the refund date when we've made the arrangements. In the mean time we are also examining alternative options and the possibilities of working with other colleagues in the industry. It's very late in the day but maybe we can work something out.

So, what can we say? It appears that this is one of those situations that life throws up, we are very disappointed.

A lot of people have helped spread the word about this event and we are asking if you could also now help spread the word of the cancellation please.

We expect that a lot of people will want to discuss this and talk about possible alternatives so we've started a thread on the Planet Angel forum for this, available at: www.planetangel.net/forum

Yours Pete and Angel

I wasn't actually going anyway, but I know a lot of you folks are, and thought it would be useful to know right away.

What delightfully shitty day. Weather is good ol' fashioned English crapping it down and windy, and our boiler is on the blink. Mercifully, we still have central heating most of the time, but we've failed to produce more than 30 seconds worth of hot running water in four days. This does not make me happy. Engineer came and poked it yesterday, but his solution doesn't seem to have worked, so I'll be back on the blower today to see if someone can deal with it.

So, my eBay-fu totally failed after all.

Has anyone recently upgraded mobiles, and has lying around a last year's model or so handset that I could purchase off them for a reasonable price? Pref Nokia or Sony Ericsson, also pref unlocked, or on Vodafone. I can't pay you in cash, but I have paypal (and I'm not afraid to use it).

Halp, plz?

James has decided he is to unwell to attend Glade.

This means there is a spare ticket if anyone wants it. At this point, there's not much likelihood of us getting our money back on it, so if anyway wants it, get in touch with me, and it's yours.

You will need to contact either me or James before tomorrow afternoon. Pass this on to anyone else you think might be interested.

Honestly, I never could have dreamed that my search would prove to be *quite* so easy.

EDIT: These are my favourites so far, and while they aren't exactly the most obnoxious, they are certainly something I would not be ashamed to wear in public. This pair are a very close second.

So, the 8th til the 23rd or so of April is the Easter holidays, which I have decided I shan't be seeking external work for - mainly because finding childcare is going to be a great deal too much bother, and will cost me near enough as much as I earn.

So, this is mainly for folks planning to go to Whitby, but the offer is open to all.

I am now taking orders for custom hairpieces and booking appointments for braids or dreads, guaranteed in time for Whitby, if you place your order before the 4th of April! I'm happy to make appointments for any day over the Easter break, except for easter friday til easter monday.

My prices are as follows (all prices exclude the price of the hair itself, which I can source for you at cost if you like):

Braided extensions - £60 for a full head/£30 half head (for those with undercuts).
Dread extensions - £30 full head/£20 half head.

Braided falls - £20 for one large fall, or £30 for two smaller falls.

I have access to all colours of synthetic hair, wool, ribbon and lace. If you want crin, colinette, tubing or rexlace, you'll need to get in touch sooner rather than later, as these are harder to get hold of - unless you have your own, of course.

Please pass this on to anyone who might be interested and please comment here or email me if you have any questions or want to make an order/appointment.
